Crofters Farm
We're a family-run farm, operating in the beautiful village of Bledlow Ridge, Buckinghamshire. We provide an entirely organic environment on which our pure grass-fed beef grows and matures. We don't use pesticides or manufactured feeds, aiming to co-create a diverse and wonderful chalk-grassland grazed habitat - from nature, for nature.
Whilst we love having the cows around, and will continue to do so, unfortunately they no longer provide sufficient income to sustain the farm. There's lower demand for beef generally, as people are eating less red meat, and there are better options for the planet. And so, despite the belief we are actually carbon positive as a beef farming operation, we're not fighting that trend. Instead we are adding more sustainable plant-based food production to diversify. We are about to start our first aeroponics plant to grow micro-herbs for local restaurants and/or saplings for direct sale to consumers. We're excited about the future!
The farmyard is the place we love to be, and work in, but we're very conscious of us being here but for a blink of an eye, geologically speaking at least. So everything we do is moving towards a more sustainable farming operation including solar panels for lighting and heating, electric vehicles wherever possible (electric hill tractors just aren't available at this time) or we share equipement and vehicles with other local farms to reduce the environmental, and economic, overhead.
